Institutional Policy Concerning the Novel Coronavirus

As already known from the media reports, the new type of coronavirus infectious disease is running rampant worldwide, and the spread of infection has been confirmed in Japan. The government formulated a basic policy on measures against new types of coronavirus infectious diseases on the 25th of this month, so please take heed of the following upon return to Japan from overseas to prevent the spread of infection. Note that these points are based on the current situation in Japan only; please pay close attention to future information from the government and other sources hereafter.

  1. After returning to or entering Japan, be sure to monitor your condition (record your physical condition and temperature) for symptoms such as fever and coughing for a period of 2 weeks.
  2. You should monitor your condition carefully for two weeks and stay at home unless unavoidable.
  3. If you begin to show symptoms such as fever or cough, do not go directly to a medical institution, but consult with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Miyazaki City Public Health Center, and/or the Miyazaki Foreigner Support Center, and report your condition to the MIC Administrative Office.

Students, faculty, and staff diagnosed with the new type of coronavirus infection will be hospitalized or made to recuperate at home (students are prohibited from attending school, and faculty and staff are not permitted to report to work).

Be sure to inform the MIC Administrative Office of your condition accordingly.

After medical treatment, you will be permitted to return to school and work upon submission of a medical certificate from your doctor certifying that you are cured.

If you notice any change in your physical condition, do not go directly to a medical institution. Contact the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare Consultation Desk, the Miyazaki City Public Health Center, and/or Miyazaki Foreigner Support Center, follow the instructions given, and be sure to report the status of your condition to the MIC Administrative Office.
