On February 27, news outlet BBC published an online article about Pokémon and how people all over the world became addicted to it. Professor Debra Occhi, a faculty member of the International Liberal Arts department, was interviewed by Tom Bateman for the article.
Professor Occhi is a Professor in Anthropology and researches about mascot characters. Pokémon has been one of her research interests and she co-authored a book about it in 2019. Even though Professor Occhi is mentioned briefly in the article, we are all very pleased that one of our faculty members have been contacted by such a renowned international news channel.
